DULUTH, GA– The 5-seed Auburn Tigers won the Session I crown of the SEC Gymnastics Championship with a score of 197.100.
After the first rotation, Mizzou had a slight advantage with a beam score of 49.375 led by Helen Hu’s 9.950 and Sienna Schreiber’s 9.900. The SEC Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Cassie Stevens, tied Auburn (49.300) with a jump score of 9.950.
Missouri extended its lead to .250 with thrilling floor routines from Alisa Sheremeta and Jocelyn Moore who both earned 9,900s.
Going into the final rotation, the Session I winner was up for grabs.
Auburn had moved into first place (147.875) with 9,900s on beam from Stevens and Gabby McLaughlin. Missouri was in second place (147.600) to big jump scores from Moore and Amari Celestine. Norah Flatley and Lauren Williams’ 9,900s on floor kept Arkansas in third place (147,400). Georgia followed closely with a 147.375 with well-executed uneven bar routines from Haley De Jong (9.900) and Katie Finnegan (9.875).
Derrian Gobourne closed the show with a 9.875 on floor to claim the title for Auburn.
Missouri recorded the highest uneven bars score (49.400), but it wasn’t enough to overtake Auburn in the final rotation. The Razorbacks finished their final event with the highest jump rotation score (49.425) of Session I as Flatley, Williams, Cami Weaver and Frankie Price logged 9.900s.
